Why the ants come back every spring

Because the spray treated the ants, and nothing treated the reason they were there.

Find the way in

Pest control sold as a recurring spray is a maintenance contract on an unsolved problem. The ants returning each spring are following the same moisture, the same mulch banked against the wall, the same gap under a door sweep that nobody mentioned because mentioning it reduces the number of visits.

Rodents make the point more starkly. Baiting without exclusion produces dead animals inside wall cavities and a fresh population the following season, because the quarter-inch gap at the roofline is exactly where it was. Sealing is slower, less dramatic and the only thing that ends it.

The label is the other discipline. A pesticide label is a legal document specifying rate, placement and re-entry interval, and following it is not caution but law. Telling an occupant what was applied and how long to stay off it should be routine, and it is worth noticing when a company does not.

Our principles

Three beliefs behind the method

Identify before treating

Species decides the treatment.

Seal, do not just bait

The hole is why they came back.

The label is the law

Rate, placement and re-entry interval.
